The new music video for the song “Go Up” from Cassius (featuring Pharrell and Cat Power) is a ode to the power of visual juxtapositions — an ironing board and the Swiss Alps; a butterfly and an elephant; a snorkel and a smokestack and more randomized sights become part of the mix delivered via a split screen. FastCompany calls the video mind-bending, while NoFilmSchool calls it a work of “visual poetry” that speaks to the complicated issues we face in society, such as the gender pay gap and climate change. NFS also features a video essay looking at the use of split screens in movies.
