In a white paper released recently, drone maker DJI criticized the FAA’s present regulations about what size drones pose a risk to humans, saying they were based on “poorly chosen data and deeply flawed assumptions.” When the FAA drafted the drone rules in November 2015, the agency set the weight limit of the “lowest-risk” category at 250 grams, or about 0.55 pounds. DJI says the limit was created for registration purposes, not as a safety measure, and that it has been adopted incorrectly, notes PetaPixel.
